The Hummingbird Wizard, finished 3/25/08

The Hummingbird Wizard by Meredith Blevins was an absolute pleasure to read. I plan on getting more of her books once I go back to the library. Our schedules have picked up dramatically and I've noticed I've slowed down quite a bit when it comes to finishing books and I've gotten terrible about posting when I've finished reading. Oops. Spring and almost summer are upon us!

This novel was about Annie Szabo and her crazy gypsy family and the scrapes they get into. I was immediately intrigued about the whole gypsy aspect of the book as I know little about that lifestyle. The story revolves around Annie's drunk and disconsolate but beautiful and talented sister in law who's ex husband gets murdered. Annie has to try to solve the mystery of Jerry's death (whom she also had a thing for)before her SIL gets thrown in jail for it.

The story weaves into and out of the gypsy lifestyle but comes down to the importance of family and helping people. All in all a great read and I'm looking forward to more from Meredith Blevins. I give this one ****
